Suspected human trafficker caught at Taoyuan Airport

A human trafficker was caught Thursday during a random passport check at Taoyuan Airport.

The man, an Indian national, was traveling to Canada via Taoyuan Airport with a woman and a child. He claimed that the woman and child, also Indian nationals, were his family. But Taiwanese immigration officers found that all three were using fake passports.

The immigration agency says that officers found the woman and child were unclear about the personal information listed on their passports. It is believed that the man was attempting to traffic the woman and child into Canada.

The immigration agency has written off the three Indian nationals’ Canadian visas while investigating the possibility that the man is a human trafficker.
