The police have provided security for the final presidential candidates' debate before the 2016 general election.
More than 200 officers were posted to the debate venue, Sanlih E-Television, on Saturday afternoon to maintain order around the building. The police also sent anti-explosive cars and bomb-sniffing dogs to secure the area.
Police officers used hand-held metal detectors to check everyone entering the building, including the members of the press. The officers also checked all bags and items carried by visitors.
Several groups protested outside the building. The groups included pig farmers protesting the possible lifting of a government ban on US pork containing leanness enhancing drug ractopamine. Other protestors included People First Party supporters protesting poll results, and opponents of an urban renewal project. There have been no reports of conflict between police and protestors.
