The Tourism Bureau has awarded nine cities and counties around Taiwan for high quality hotels.
The Tourism Bureau used the evaluations of 17 experts and bloggers to come up with the list. Tourism Bureau Deputy Director-General Wayne Liu spoke of Taiwan’s effort to create a quality travel environment.
Taiwan welcomed its 10 millionth visitor in December last year. According to the bureau’s statistics, foreign travelers to Taiwan have been staying in Taiwan on an average of seven nights. Moreover, about 1.5 billion locals travel in Taiwan and about 30 percent of those people stay at least one night at a hotel during their trip. That is why more and more hotels and bed and breakfasts are opening up around Taiwan.
Liu said that the Tourism Bureau tries to assist county and city governments to boost the quality of Taiwan’s hotel operators. He said the bureau wants to ensure that travelers stay at safe and legal accommodations.
