The ruling KMT has held a parade featuring high ranking party members on Saturday. The parade was aimed at drumming up support for the party’s presidential and legislative candidates in the final week before Taiwan’s general elections.
The parade followed three routes through Taipei. At the head of one route were KMT presidential candidate Eric Chu, vice presidential candidate Wang Ju-hsuan, and outgoing president Ma Ying-jeou.
The three routes converged at Liberty Square, where Ma, Chu, and legislative president Wang Jin-pyng addressed the gathered participants.
Eric Chu encouraged people to bring national flags to the parade. He also said he would like to remind voters to cast their ballots at the polls next Saturday.
