The police were out in full force in Tainan on Sunday with all three presidential candidates making campaign stops in the southern city.
Some 890 police were on hand to oversee security as the candidates paraded through the city in search of support.
Tainan Mayor William Lai said Sunday that his city welcomed all three candidates, but he said that special considerations were made to ensure safety. Lai said that the city government formed a special committee to arrange the visits and to make sure that none of the candidates would appear in the same place at the same time.
Lai said that none of the candidates would travel along the same path. He said that while the routes would intersect, the committee had done its best to make sure the candidates would not pass one another.
The mayor called on the supporters of all three candidates to help maintain peace and order on the final Sunday of campaigning.
