Some bargain hunting emerged after the market opened more than one percent lower, helping the weighted index recoup part of the earlier losses at a time when the futures market showed signs of recovering from the opening losses.
Taiwan shares closed up 49.17 points, or 0.63 percent at 7,811.18 Monday.
