After the presidential election, President-elect Tsai Ing-wen has been busy in meetings and has not made any public appearances. Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesman Yang Chia-liang said she will begin traveling around the island on Thursday to thank her supporters.
Yang said Tsai and Vice President-elect Chen Chien-ren will start traveling from Kaohsiung and go to Pingtung, Tainan and Yilan on Thursday and Friday.
"They hope to host tea times throughout Taiwan to thank DPP members and volunteers for all they did during the campaign. I will announce her latter itinerary from the 23rd to 29th at a later time," said Yang.
President-elect Tsai will not travel in a motorcade due to safety and transportation considerations. But DPP legislators will be thanking voters via motorcade.
