Foreign minister David Lin said there will be no caretaker period for diplomacy. He made the remarks on Tuesday at the welcoming event for the ministry’s new administrative vice minister Leo Lee, after the Cabinet resigned en masse.
Lin spoke about the goals of future diplomatic work.
“In the future, whether or not we still use terms like viable diplomacy, I think we need to be pragmatic and flexible for the country’s diplomatic developments. Also, we hope to continue our work and start to prepare for the new administration’s policies in the following months before the inauguration,” said Lin.
Minister Lin said the foreign ministry will communicate with the new administration to enable the results of the previous work benefit future foreign affairs. He also said the ministry will invite the president-elect and other officials to the ministry for diplomatic reports.
