The Cabinet says that it will continue work after Premier Mao Chi-kuo tendered his resignation and took a leave of absence on Monday. The Cabinet will put off major decisions about future planning and leave them to the next administration.
Cabinet Secretary-General Chien Tai-lang said Wednesday that the Cabinet will review bills individually. Bills that need to be updated annually will continue to be reviewed. Bills of major importance or controversy or those that would change government policy in the next three to five years will be put off until after the new administration takes office on May 20.
Chien also said that Taiwan will continue with its bids to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership, Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, and the Asian Investment Bank.
