Feminist writer Li Ang launches English translation in NYC
The New York premier of "Lost Garden"

Feminist writer Li Ang has launched an English translation of her 1991 book “Lost Garden” in New York City.

The publisher, Columbia University Press, held a book signing event on Wednesday for the author, the two translators, and the readers. The book deals with Taiwanese women and Taiwanese identity.

The English translators of Lost Garden are Howard Goldblatt and his wife, Sylvia Li-chun Lin. Goldblatt has been called the foremost Chinese-English literary translator in the world.

Writer Li Ang is well-known by readers from many countries. Her novel “The Butcher’s Wife” has been translated into English, German, French, and Japanese, and adapted into movies.
