A Taiwan air force pilot has died in a fighter jet crash in the US state of Arizona. According to the Air Force, an F-16A fighter jet crashed on Thursday, local time, during a routine training flight. Air force pilot Kao Ting-cheng was flying the fighter jet.
Air Force Command confirmed Kao’s death on Friday after a search. One air force official said that the air force has dispatched staff to Arizona and to see the pilot’s father. The official said the air force has been contacting Kao’s family and will assist them to go to the US.
According to Air Force Command, Kao was a 2007 graduate of Taiwan's Air Force Academy. He was in the US on a routine training program.
According to foreign wire service reports, US military officials said that the pilot, who was stationed at Luke Air Force base, was carrying out air-to-air combat maneuvers when the plane went down.
