Labor group Taiwan Labor Front is urging Taiwan's incoming administration to make raising the minimum wage a priority. That was the word from the group’s secretary-general Sun Yu-Lien on Saturday.
Sun said that young people have high expectations for the new administration, set to take office in May.
Sun said that past increases to the minimum wage have failed to catch up with rising prices. He said the new administration should fulfill previous promises of raising the minimum wage.
Sun also said the use of temporary labor dispatched by staffing agencies has led to low salaries in Taiwan. He said it is unfair for dispatch workers to not have the same rights as other full time workers.
