The new legislative session will begin on February 19. The new Legislature President Su Jia-chyuan held talks between ruling and opposition legislators to decide on the date and agenda. The new lawmakers were sworn in on Monday.
Su had promised that he would reform the legislature and not allow any secret deals to take place in the legislature. After lawmakers met to discuss the new session’s agenda for 30 minutes, Su invited reporters to the meeting to ask questions. Su said he plans to amend the law so that all legislative discussions can be broadcast on the Internet.
The new Premier Chang San-cheng and other heads of government agencies will give a report to the legislature and take questions from lawmakers on February 19.
