Activists are calling on the education ministry to revoke changes to the high school curriculum that took effect last August. The coalition of opponents to the changes is also calling for the postponement of discussion about possible changes to the K-12 curriculum.
Activists opposed to the changed curriculum held a press conference at the legislature on Wednesday.
However, Deputy Education Minister Lin Teng-chiao said that teachers have been advised to continue using old versions of textbooks side by side with new versions. Lin said there is therefore no need to revoke changes to the curriculum.
Lin also responded to activists’ calls to push back discussions on revising the K-12 curriculum. He said that the ministry will discuss revising the K-12 curriculum with the incoming government in March or April.
