The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) has expressed concern over an earthquake that struck southern Taiwan on Saturday. The quake has caused at least seven deaths and has injured more than four hundred.
Director of the AIT's Taipei office, Kin Moy, voiced support for Tainan Mayor William Lai and encouragement for the rescue teams operating in the city.
Moy wrote on the AIT’s Facebook page that the victims are in the thoughts of the AIT’s staff.
Moy said the AIT is following developments very closely.
