Rescue workers at the collapsed Weiguan building in Tainan are battling cold temperatures and diminishing hope for finding survivors. But, they say, they're invigorated every time someone is pulled from the building alive.
The Chiayi Fire Department is one of the teams helping with the rescue efforts. They pulled a female survivor from the building late on Saturday, almost one day after the quake occurred.
Team members say they heard someone calling for help. After searching with rescue lights, they finally found her and pulled her from the collapsed building.
The team said that they no longer felt tired after their efforts produced a survivor. They are preparing to head deeper into the wreckage to search for others who are still in the building.
