President-elect Tsai Ing-wen has thanked all of the rescue workers who are devoting their time and energy to saving lives after Saturday's earthquake. Her comments came on Sunday, which is also the Chinese Lunar New Year’s Eve.
Tsai said that while most people are ushering in the Lunar New Year, the friends and families of the victims are facing an incredibly long wait for good news. She said she’s worried about those who are still trapped in the building. But, she said, every time a survivor is pulled from the wreckage, it offers hope to the people of Taiwan.
Tsai expressed her gratitude for all of the rescue workers, medical professionals, social workers, and engineers who are working tirelessly around the clock. She said their hard work warms the hearts of the Taiwanese people.
