A Japanese rescue team has arrived at the collapsed Weiguan building in Tainan to join in the rescue efforts. The team arrived the day after a powerful earthquake hit southern Taiwan and bringing down several buildings in Tainan City.
The Japanese rescue team includes people from both the Japanese government and private sectors. Tainan City Mayor William Lai accompanied the team on a trip to the Weiguan building to learn more about the rescue efforts.
The Japanese rescue team joined in the rescue work after participating in evaluations and a discussion of how to save people who are still trapped in the building. Meanwhile, local rescue teams have also sent a large number of workers to help search for survivors.
