EARTHQUAKE: More survivors pulled from wreckage, 103 still trapped
Rescue work continues

Rescue workers have pulled three more survivors from the collapsed Weiguan building in Tainan. The 17-story building toppled after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake rocked southern Taiwan early on Saturday morning. At least a handful of other buildings were toppled or severely damaged in the quake.

The three survivors pulled from the wreckage in the early hours of Sunday morning included a father and son, both of whom were conscious. They were reunited with the son's mother on the sidelines of the building.

Others were not so lucky. Three more bodies – of a young male adult and two girls – were pulled from the wreckage during the same period of time early on Sunday morning. So far the death toll has risen to 21, following Saturday's quake.

Rescuers are continuing to search for survivors, while residents and family members wait nearby, hoping for good news.

The Tainan City Government estimates that there are still another 103 people trapped in the building.
