Minister Andrew Hsia says that the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) will follow the incoming administration's cross-strait policy. Hsia was speaking on Saturday.
Hsia said the hotline between the leaders of Taiwan and Mainland China has not been used since January’s presidential election as the two sides continue to work on a variety of issues.
Hsia said the new administration has begun taking over from the incumbent administration, prior to President-elect Tsai Ing-wen's inauguration on May 20. He said that the MAC will continue its work during the interim period, and will follow the new administration's policies and popular opinion in the future.
Hsia said that the MAC will not push policies forward without consulting the legislature during the remainder of his term as MAC minister.
