Temperatures are continuing to drop on Sunday with a cold front arriving in Taiwan. Northern Taiwan, in particular, saw drops of more than 10 C from Saturday, when the mercury soared to an unseasonable 29 C in Taipei.
Forecasters were predicting rain in northern, central and eastern Taiwan, as well as in the mountainous areas of southern Taiwan.
Overnight lows were expected to drop to 10 degrees in northern Taiwan, and 12 degrees in central Taiwan. Forecasters say that other parts of the country could see lows of between 13 and 16 degrees C.
The Central Weather Bureau says that Monday is likely to see the coldest weather, but that the chill will wear off by Wednesday.
