With the nine-day Lunar New Year holidays drawing to close on Sunday, vacationers are returning home and getting ready for work on Monday.
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, the country's main gateway serving Taipei, was expecting to handle an all-time record of more than 146,000 passengers on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) said Sunday that the number of people traveling through Taiwan over the Lunar New Year holiday had reached a record-high of more than 1.27 million people as of Saturday.
That figure does not include data for Sunday, the final day of the holiday. The Feb. 6-13 statistics suggest an increase of around 120,000 people coming to Taiwan compared with the same period of 2015.
