The foreign ministry is considering helping diplomatic allies in their fight against the Zika virus.
A source close to the ministry said Wednesday that officials are gathering information to evaluate ways that Taiwan might be able to help.
The health ministry has placed 36 countries on its Zika alert list. Of these eight have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan. With the exception of the Solomon Islands, all are located in Central America or the Caribbean.
Meanwhile, the foreign ministry has also urged all staff working in Zika affected areas to take necessary precautions.
