Taiwan shares soar led by the strong showing of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the most heavily weighted stock in the local market. The bellwether high-tech sector served as one of the drivers to push up the broader market by triple-digit points.
The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange closed up 100.42 points, or 1.22 percent, at 8,314.67.
