Premier Chang San-cheng has called on the legislature to pass a series of disaster prevention laws in the wake of the earthquake that struck southern Taiwan on February 6. Chang was speaking Thursday during a Cabinet meeting.
The Premier said that the public approval rating for government relief efforts was over 60% according to media reports. Chang said that the Cabinet has been pushing for the approval of three disaster prevention laws. He said the caretaker government will continue to work with the legislature to ensure a smooth transition to the incoming administration.
