Premier Chang San-cheng says the results of past cross-strait talks will be a major focus during the transitional period between administrations.
Chang was speaking Friday during a progress report to the legislature. He was referring to the transfer between the outgoing administration of President Ma Ying-jeou and President-elect Tsai Ing-wen.
Tsai, the chairwoman of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), is set to take office in late May.
The premier talked about the information his government will prepare.
“Government agencies will provide the new administration’s transfer team detailed information about [our] method of negotiating with [China]," said Chang.
"To make things easier for the [DPP] government to go ahead with its work, [we] will lay out how we analyze the pros and cons of of accepting [China’s] conditions during talks. We will also explain the benefits cross-strait talks have brought with them and these talks’ legitimacy."
Chang said that a list of 26 bills on the government’s priority list include statutes governing the oversight of cross-strait talks.
