The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) says that some mountainous areas in Taiwan reported snow on Saturday as a cold, moist air mass passed over the island.
Snow was reported on Yushan, Taiwan's highest mountain, which is also known as Jade Mountain. According to the CWB, the 3,952-meter peak saw a total accumulation of 3.7 cm.
Hehuanshan, also known as Joy Mountain, saw an accumulation of 2 cm after snow began falling at 7 am.
The CWB says that many travelers to mountainous areas are excited at the chance to see snow, which is a rare sight in the rest of Taiwan.
