The National Development Council (NDC) says that the approval rating for the government earthquake relief efforts are at 86%. The results, announced Saturday, come from a survey conducted by the NDC.

The relief work took place mainly in Tainan, where several buildings toppled due to a 6.4 magnitude earthquake on February 6.

The survey results indicate that as much as 86% of people are satisfied with relief work, while 3% are unsatisfied and around 10% have no opinion.

The NDC said that the high level of public support stems from the non-partisan cooperation between central and local governments to provide disaster relief. The results also show that up to 93% of people are happy with the military’s prompt support for the relief efforts.

An NDC official said that although several buildings collapsed and more than one hundred people died in the disaster, the public and the media reacted positively to the government’s timely response and thorough efforts to provide relief.
