Taiwanese businesses in Vietnam are bracing for a massive anti-China demonstration slated for Sunday.
Protests by Vietnamese angered by a Chinese oil-drilling venture in disputed waters in the South China Sea turned violent earlier this week. Protestors attacked factories considered “Chinese”, including those with Chinese-language signboards. Taiwanese businesses in southern Vietnam ended up suffering the worst damage.
Ahead of a mass demonstration scheduled for Sunday, Taiwan’s transportation ministry has requested that Taiwanese airlines provide additional flight services if Taiwanese citizens need to be evacuated.
