Two Taiwanese restaurants ranked on Asia’s 50 best list
Taipei RAW first time on list

Two Taiwanese restaurants made it on to the 2016 San Pellegrino Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

Le Mout, a French restaurant in Taichung, placed 30th on the list. It was ranked 26th in 2015. Last year, San Pellegrino wrote “the menu at this beautiful restaurant speaks with an impeccable French accent, thanks to the dedication and experience of chef-patron Lanshu Chen.” Chen was trained at Le Cordon Bleu cookery school in Paris.

The other restaurant is Taipei-based RAW, which just celebrated its one year anniversary at the end of 2015. RAW is ranked 46th for its first appearance on the list. RAW is a collaboration between internationally renowned Taiwanese chef Andre Chiang and the Hasmore Restaurant Group. The restaurant focuses on new interpretations of Taiwanese flavors and the use of seasonal local produce.

This year, Indian restaurant Gaggan in Bangkok retained its No. 1 position, with Narisawa restaurant in Tokyo at No. 2.

The list is based on a vote by more than 300 chefs, restaurant owners and food connoisseurs from six countries across Asia.
