Transfer of power from Ma to Tsai administrations smooth: DPP

The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) says the transfer of power from President Ma Ying-jeou’s administration to the DPP has been quite smooth. That’s the word from DPP Spokesman Ruan Jhao-syong on Friday.

The DPP government is set to take office in late May following DPP Chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen’s landslide victory in the presidential elections in mid-January. The DPP also won its first majority in the legislature, picking up more than 60% of the seats in the legislative race.

The transfer of power officially began on Friday with three government officials bringing documents to the DPP headquarters in person.

The documents include information about government operations and structures, personnel, next year’s budget plans, as well as previous and future policy plans.

Ruan said the documents are basic and contain no confidential information.
