Premier Chang San-cheng says he approves of President-elect Tsai Ing-wen’s plan to integrate Taiwan’s semiconductor supply chain. He spoke about the plan in an interview at the legislature on Friday.
President-elect Tsai said Thursday that the semiconductor industry is one of Taiwan’s national industries. She said the government will serve as a partner for local businesses in competing with China’s so-called “red supply chain.”
Premier Chang said that the national development fund already targets investment in several industries and that it’s good to have Tsai’s plan.
Finance Minister Chang Sheng-ford said Taiwan’s semiconductor industry has an advantage. He said that in the face of competition from China, Taiwanese companies can work together to increase competiveness.
