The Taiwan Lantern festival in Taoyuan is set to close on Sunday with a fireworks show. The Tourism Bureau is expecting a big number of visitors over the sunny weekend.
This year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival had a soft opening on February 19. The Tourism Bureau says that as of Friday, the festival has attracted more than 15,987,000 visitors, with 3.69 million people crowding in on February 28 alone.
The Tourism Bureau says there will be performances on themain stage in front of the main lantern from 6:35-10:00 pm Sunday. Performances will include folk dancing, dragon dancing, cheerleading, and juggling. The festival will close after an eight-minute firework show.
According to the Central Weather Bureau, Taiwan will see sunny skies and comfortable temperatures over the weekend. The Tourism Bureau is encouraging visitors of the festival to use public transport.
