The foreign ministry’s chief of North American affairs, Christine Hsueh, says the US Cabinet will assist Taiwan in its bid to join Interpol as an observer.
Hsueh was speaking Wednesday, a day after the US Senate unanimously passed a bill supporting Taiwan’s participation in Interpol. The House of Representatives also passed a similar bill in November 2015.
“The significance of [the US Senate] passing the bill is that the US will take more concrete action to assist our bid to join such important international organizations. I think this is a very positive development," said Hsueh.
