Surveys on soil liquefaction risk to go online Monday
Inspecting the damage

The government will publish surveys measuring the risk of soil liquefaction online.

Soil liquefaction can lead to serious structural damage. It is a danger in Taiwan, where earthquakes are frequent. Beginning Monday, when the data is published online, residents of eight cities and counties across Taiwan will be able to see risk assessments for their area by typing in their address. On the general version of the website open to the public, areas are divided into three categories based on the risk of soil liquefaction.

The surveys are general are take in large areas of the island. The central government will fund more detailed local surveys in the future.
