Taiwan can expect to see another week of cool, wet weather. That’s according to meteorologist Wu Der-rong, who says the rain is being caused by a newly arrived weather front and a strengthening northeast monsoon.
Heavy rain is expected between Sunday and next Tuesday as a result of increased moisture, according to Wu, a professor at National Central University's Department of Atmospheric Sciences.
Meanwhile on Saturday, the Central Weather Bureau issued a heavy rain warning for a large segment of Taiwan spanning the central part of the island from east to west.
The bureau also issued a poor visibility warning for western areas of Taiwan and the outlying islands of Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu due to fog and low clouds. The bureau is advising air travelers to pay close attention to flight information before heading to the airport.
