Former Vice President Vincent Siew is attending the Boao Forum in Hainan, China. Siew will depart from Taiwan on Wednesday as the Honorary Chairman of the Cross-Straits Common Market Foundation.
According to the CEO of the foundation, Chen Te-Sheng, former Vice President Siew will express at the forum his hopes for the cross-strait economy not to be influenced by political changes.
The annual Boao Forum for Asia takes place in Hainan, China, on Tuesday. Siew will meet with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang Thursday afternoon before going to a banquet held by China’s Taiwan Affairs Office. He will hold a press conference Thursday to talk about his meeting with Chinese Premier Li.
Chairman of the Cross-Straits Common Market Foundation Chan Hou-sheng said the forum covers a variety of topics of importance to the economies and countries in Asia. Taiwan representatives will focus on online finance innovations, crowdfunding, and cross-border e-commerce.
