Shares in Taiwan closed down on reduced turnover, as investors took to the sidelines to await a decision to be made by the Central Bank in its quarterly policymaking meeting later in the day.
The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange ended down 22.71 points, or 0.26 percent, at 8,743.38.
