President Ma Ying-jeou has offered his condolences to the people of Belgium following Tuesday’s terrorist attacks in Brussels.
Ma expressed Taiwan’s sympathy on Friday during a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Belgian Federal Parliament.
“The explosions that took place in your capital city of Brussels left a high death toll and injured many others. On behalf of the government of the Republic of China and our people, I would like to condemn the violence and express my condolences and sympathy to the victims and their family members," said Ma.
The Republic of China is Taiwan’s official name.
The president also told the visiting delegation that the frequent high-level exchanges between Taiwan and Belgium are a sign of close and warming ties.
