Taiwan shares close down on low turnover

The Taiwan stock market's benchmark index edged lower on Monday because of the lack of clear indicators to guide the market and anemic turnover.

The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange closed down 14.52 points, or 0.17 percent, at 8,690.45.
