Newly elected KMT Chairwoman Hung Hsiu-chu says she aims to recruit more young talent. She was speaking Wednesday at her inauguration ceremony.
Hung said in recent years, the KMT has failed to earn the trust of Taiwan’s people and to hold ground against the Democratic Progressive Party. She said she plans to recruit more young talent from the grass root level and to give young people opportunities to grow into capable party members.
Hung also said the KMT needs a complete discourse on key issues, including Taiwan’s constitution, history, national identity, its role in the international community, and cross-strait relations. Hung said that the discourse must be put together by the collective strength of KMT think tanks.
Hung also said that President-elect Tsai Ing-wen needs to realize that Taiwan belongs to all its citizens, not just Tsai or the Democratic Progressive Party.
