Deputy Justice Minister Chen Ming-tang says there is no timetable in place for the executions of criminals awaiting the death penalty. Chen was speaking Thursday at the legislature.
A Kuomintang lawmaker asked Chen if the justice ministry will execute criminals to pacify public anger after the murder of a four year-old girl in Taipei earlier this week. The government carried out an execution last year after similar murder.
Chen said that carrying out a death sentence requires cautious consideration. He said that last year’s execution was not related to the murder that took place not long before.
