A new survey shows that Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je’s approval rating has plummeted to 42.3%.

The percentage of respondents dissatisfied with Ko's performance rose to 39.1%. That's up from 30.1% in February.

Ko’s approval rating remained around 70% shortly after his first 100 days in office. They later fell to 64% after controversies emerged over the Taipei Dome construction project. Ko's support then fell again to 56% after a Japanese porn star was chosen to market a limited-edition EasyCard.

Responding to the latest drop in popularity, Taipei City Government Spokesman Sidney Lin said that people might shift in their views as government projects move forward. He said the city government will expedite projects so that city residents can see concrete results of the government's work.
