Workers have culled more than 1,700 geese infected with the H5N2 bird flu virus at a farm in Chaiyi County. That’s after samples collected by the county’s Livestock Disease Control Center tested positive on Monday.
Authorities watched as workers moved quickly to disinfect the affected farm in an effort to reduce the risk of the virus spreading to other farms.
As there have been sporadic reports of H5N2 bird flu, the control center said farms and distributors must continue taking precautions and report suspected cases to the authorities.
