Taiwan nationals are also eligible for a quick entry program when traveling to the United Kingdom. The UK selected citizens of the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore to be eligible for the Registered Traveller Service, which began this year.
"What’s worth mentioning is that the UK announced this year that our country is also a part of their Registered Traveller Service," foreign ministry spokeswoman Eleanor Wang explains, "The UK and the US have included Taiwan passport holders in programs that allow quick entry. This affirms the quality of our people and the success of our government’s viable diplomacy. We will continue to work for more travel rights."
Travelers in the program can use UK/EU entry lanes or ePassport-gate to enter the UK. There is no need to sign entry cards or speak with immigration officers. Taiwan passport holders who are least 18 years old and who have a UK visa that is valid for 6 months are eligible. People can go onto the UK government website www.gov.uk/registered-traveller to register. The first time application fee is 70 British pounds and annual fees are 50 British pounds a year.
