Vietnam provincial gov’t pledges to help Taiwanese firms pay workers
Destroyed

The government of Vietnam’s Bình Dương Province has pledged to help Taiwanese businesses affected by recent rioting pay workers’ wages.

Taiwanese businesses operating in Vietnam suffered extensive property damage as a wave of anti-China riots swept the country earlier in the month. Rioters in Bình Dương Province are said to have targeted businesses with Chinese-language signs indiscriminately.

On Wednesday, vice-chairman of the Bình Dương Province People’s Committee, Le Thanh Chung, said that foreign firms affected by rioting will be compensated for workers’ wages as they repair damage.

Authorities in Bình Dương Province are urging foreign firms to calculate their losses and return to normal production as soon as possible.
