Taiwan shares close down

Shares in Taiwan closed moderately lower Thursday after trimming most of their earlier losses on the back of bargain hunting, mainly in the afternoon trading session.

Taiwan shares closed up 23.05 points, or 0.27 percent, at 8,490.25.
