President Ma Ying-jeou will give a talk to diplomatic officials Friday on the South China Sea to disputes. He will discuss Taiwan and South China Sea, from an international relations and legal perspective.

Ma’s talk will be part of a training session for officials which will also include keynote speeches by scholars. It is estimated that Ma’s presentation will last around 20 to 30 minutes.

The foreign ministry held a similar workshop when it promoted the president’s East China Sea Peace Initiatives. Ma’s talk comes as the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague prepares to rule on a case on the South China Sea disputes brought by the Philippines. The talk will assert Taiwan’s sovereignty in the South China Sea through an analysis of the Law of the Sea and international relations.
