The tourism bureau said over 5,600 Chinese travelers will visit Taiwan in ten days starting Wednesday. That’s after the bureau launched mid-March new policies to encourage overseas enterprises to send groups to travel in Taiwan.
The 5,600 employees of the Chinese herbal and health product company Infinitus will come to Taiwan in six groups starting Wednesday. Each group will stay in Taiwan for six days. They are expected to bring tourism revenues of around US$11.28 million.
In 2012, the same company brought over 2000 employees to travel in Taiwan. The number more than doubled this year, and is only second to Amway which twice brought over 10,000 tourists to Taiwan.
The tourism bureau said travelers coming to Taiwan with overseas enterprises will be subsidized up to US$25 each. Companies coming to Taiwan in two consecutive years will receive a subsidy of up to US$31 for each traveling employee.
The bureau said the incentive travel market grew by 18% last year compared to the previous year. It is hoped the new policies will boost another 20% growth of the market this year.
