Foreign minister David Lin says his ministry will protect the rights of the 31 Taiwanese suspects being held in Indonesia. Lin was speaking during an interview Thursday.
The 31 Taiwanese suspects are being held for alleged involvement in telecom fraud. Lin said that the governments of Taiwan and Indonesia enjoy smooth communications, and that Taiwan will protect the rights of its citizens.
Lin also addressed the ongoing case of Taiwanese citizens who were forcibly sent to China after being arrested in Kenya. Lin said that Taiwan’s representative office in South Africa has asked lawyers to file lawsuits against Kenya’s interior minister and head of police for violations of laws.
